phpFoX 2 (Code Name: Konsort) Information!

With the great growth of phpFoX and the phpFoX Portal we are proud to announce the new project - phpFoX Konsort

Konsort will take over the current versions released for the Portal. The release version for Konsort will be version 2 in the current history logs for the Portal.

PhpFoX on the 31st of July will turn 1 year young and with the fast growth with just 1 year in the market has brought us to the stage where our development team will bringing us Konsort which will be in a whole different level than the phpFoX Portal. During this short year we have learned what are our strengths and our weaknesses so this puts us in a great position, as we know what we would like to improve and bring in with Konsort.

As the best way to improve with the new software is to have it rebuilt from the ground up as are developers know this is the best way to improve our current software. Not to worry for all those running any version of the phpFoX Portal as you will be able to upgrade to Konsort with no issues. From the outside and from your members point of view it will still look and function the same so you won?t have to worry about major cosmetic changes as most are already comfortable with the layout and how the system works. All the main work will be in the actual source code to make sure things function better and faster once your sites grows in the future.

Konsort will be split up into 2 phases till it hits its release of version 2. It will have Phase 1 and Phase 2. Below I have listed some important pointers on what will be completed during those 2 phases.

Phase 1 (Version 1.5)

• Recoding of all modules available using object oriented PHP framework.
• Optimizing application spend and security.
• New membership system
• SEO Optimization

Phase 2 (Version 2)

• New Modules/Feature added
• Update current modules with new features
• Integration of 3 new forum systems and 4 payment gateways
• Application upgrade system built for future upgrades
• Multilingual Support

With Konsort it will bring in some new features and improve on some very important areas of the software and modules. Below I have listed some of the new features and changes coming with Konsort. Note we left out some key features as these will be left out till we release the new software.



Key Features and Upgrades with Konsort v2

• 100% Open Source
• New template system with all HTML templates based in 1 area for the ease to edit your site design.
• Multilingual support so clients will be able to have their sites in French, Spanish etc?
• SEO Optimization
• MYSQL Database Optimization
• Forum Integration: phpBB, VB and IPB
• Multiple payment gateway support: Paypal, 2checkout, E-gold, StormPay and WorldPay.
• New membership system to give you the full control on what your members can or can?t do. Plus the option to add more membership?s and charge for them if you would like.
• New Games section that will support games being uploaded by admins or your members.
• New Music section with the option for your members to upload their own music and have it stream from their profiles.
• New Media section where your members can upload short movies they have created and have it stream in the media section or on their profiles.
• Admin Approval System where it will give you full control on approving items such as: Polls, Images, Quizzes, Profile Images, Actual Memberships, Games, Videos/Movies and Music files being uploaded.
• 18+ system where if your site allows things they can only been seen by members over the age of 18 such as videos or images the system will check if a member is allowed or not allowed to see such items
• Advanced Privacy System for your members where for things they add to your site they can select on who they want to view their items.

Release Dates:
ETA for Phase 1 will be on October 6. Once our developers have released it we will be looking over the software and giving out beta downloads to a certain few before it is released. So the ETA for Phase 1 (v1.5) will be released on October 15. For the released date of Phase 2 (v2) there is not set date yet as this will come once our developers are deep into Phase 1. We should know the ETA for Phase 2 early in August.

I failed to mention in my previous post, which I have now updated that with the release of Konsort all source code will be 100% Open source.

What the means basically is no more Zend Encoding period.

With the release of version 1.0.9 we have opened most of the files that were encoded before and left 1% still encoded which is the license files.

Some of you might have known we have fought with a fair share of software piracy over the last few months and that?s when we decided to work with Zend to encode our files, which once again some might have noticed it didn't really work for the best in the long run. Not blaming Zend cause we all know anything that can be encoded can also be decoded.

So since version 1.0.9 we went another way and simply opened the source code and hired the best in the online biz to stop software piracy crack down of illegal sites using our software. This in such a short time has in return given us the confidence to release Konsort to be fully open source with no more encoding of files.
